What have I become…..

I finished a book yesterday and I am hesitant to start another as I’m leaving to the Outer Banks tomorrow so figured I would spend some time debating on Facebook. Not my favorite activity but after walking my 8 miles already today and playing with the dog I figured it would be a good distraction….

Final Visit to BrookGreen

With our time here coming to an end, I felt it important to pay one last visit to the beautiful oasis of Brookgreen. So much life has emerged since my last visit.

Books have Replaced Facebook

I’ve finally found out why Facebook has been a crux for so long in my life. I have used it, in part, to live vicariously through other people. I would find a place I wanted to live, visit or found interesting. I would locate people there that I liked and send dozens of friend requests…

A few shots from March 26th 2017

I’ve been enjoying my Fuji x100s. There is something liberating about being able to simply shoot photos and not care about lenses, raw vs jpeg or dozens of additional settings. Just shoot and go. The guy at the bottom is from VT, he has a 10-mile range with that chair and he has been an…

The American Megaphone

Peace, and freedom from loudness, is it really that hard to find? It’s 11;30 PM, we are trying to sleep. Meanwhile, in the hot tub 11 floors directly below our balcony comes a cacophony of loud, raucous laughter, drunk singing and a string of vulgarity-strewn slurring. Photos from Today: Black and White

Raven’s shot of the day, Black, and White. Commentary: A stark image showing the contrast of the politically charged Confederate flag superimposed upon a black and white image with the only balance another white sheet hanging a few floors below.

Raven’s Favorite Places, Brookgreen Gardens, SC.

I am a person who feels strongly about the environment, and this is represented in much of my personal study and also the expressions of my own photographic styles. Naturally when I come upon a place dedicated to the observance, appreciation, and protection of those things for which I hold dear while also being dedicated…

It Comes Down to Those that Matter

A few weeks ago I pretty much told Facebook and my impartial followers that I was done with social media. I felt like it was a damaging time sync that could be spent reading or doing something much more constructive. I believe I have kept that promise. I no longer, with the exception of today,…

A Place’s Vibe in One Photo, Myrtle Beach

We have been in Myrtle Beach now for about 7 weeks. We have two more weeks left. In our time here we have seen the best of people and the worst of people. We have been witness to indecent acts in hot tubs, have seen acts of kindness, have been subjected to the ramblings of…

An Intellectual Arms Race

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’”― Isaac Asimov Since November 8th I have been bombarded with the rantings and discontent on both political sides. I still occasionally see…
